Terms & Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Once you have agreed your session time, it will be reserved for you each week. I will try to give you at least a month’s notice of any breaks. If you are unable to attend the session and give sufficient notice, I will endeavour to find another session time for you in the same week, but this may not be possible. If it is not possible you will be liable to still pay for the appointment. All sessions booked must be paid for, whether you attend or not. If at any time you decide to end our arrangement then of course all financial liability stops. When you do decide to end it is useful if you can give at least four weeks’ notice, as then we can give attention and respect to the ending.
  2. As an important aspect of my training and development (in common with other counsellors) I am sometimes required to demonstrate profession competence by writing case studies. Client identity and specific information will be sufficiently disguised to ensure anonymity. If this concerns you, please discuss it with me
  1. I keep clients’ personal details and notes of sessions securely and confidentially. The data I hold about clients is name, address and telephone number, and brief notes summarizing their sessions and contact with me. The notes are kept separately from the clients’ contact details.
  2. Complaints about personal data (GDPR) – If you have any concerns about how I collect, store, use or share your personal information, please raise these with me in the first instance so that I can investigate and respond. My handling of personal data is explained in my Privacy Notice, which is provided alongside my contract. If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

  1. Counselling is a non-judgmental, empathic relationship that enables you to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours within a confidential environment. It helps you to look at what may be going on for you and can lead to more effective ways of managing your life.
  1. All clients are asked to attend their sessions free from the effects of alcohol and non-medical drugs. If a client appears under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I will not be able to see them for that session.
  1. Threatening, abusive or violent behaviour is unacceptable and will lead to termination of the counselling agreement.
  1. Mobile phones can interrupt the counselling process so I recommend they be turned off or on silent during the session.
