Welcome
Counselling for adults and children/young people aged 12 and over
Welcome! My name is Jackie and I offer counselling for adults and children/young people aged 12 and over
I recognise that it’s often very hard to take that first step and come to counselling. I aim to help you feel comfortable and at ease, offering you warmth, empathy and non-judgment in a safe and supportive environment, working alongside you to help you to explore your concerns and empower you to find a solution or a better way of dealing with them.
We all have times when we face difficulties in our lives and counselling can help, providing support and understanding to help you make changes that will improve your well-being.
At your first session we will look at the issues you’re currently facing, what you hope to get from counselling and how we can work together.
I’m a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and am Trauma Informed with a Level 6 Diploma in counselling survivors of rape and sexual abuse. I also have a Level 6 Diploma in counselling children and young people aged 12+ and am a certified Supervisor.
I offer sessions face to face in a comfortable private room, online or on the telephone. I have a small friendly dog (a Poodle/Bichon Frise) who attends my sessions when they are held in the daytime.
I work with a wide variety of concerns and these include abortion, anger management, anxiety, autism, bereavement, depression, domestic abuse, emotional abuse, feeling sad, generalised anxiety disorder, individual parent and family issues/relationships, individual relationship issues, loneliness, loss (such as the loss of a job or status or when adult children leave home), low self-confidence, low self-esteem, OCD, panic attacks, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) stress, rape and sexual abuse, redundancy, trauma and work-related stress/issues.
Please use the contact form below to arrange an appointment for a free chat to see if you would like us to work together. I look forward to hearing from you
Jackie

Your Questions Answered
I believe it’s not possible to say how many sessions you will need as everybody is different. I would suggest being prepared to commit to at least 6 sessions with a review to then see if you would like to continue with more sessions
I am humanistic trained and draw on Gestalt, CBT, TA and trauma informed approaches in my work
I am trained to work with most issues (other than anything to do with adoption) but if I were to feel your concerns were beyond my limits of ability I would need to refer you on to a more specialist practitioner. This would be about my limits and no reflection on the complexity of your concerns.
